Practical solutions for sustainable transportation

Reducing transport emissions with Biofuel Swap

HVO100 is not yet widely available, and it is also often unclear what feedstock was used for HVO diesel production. This can make it difficult to meet essential sustainability requirements. That’s why we’ve developed Biofuel Swap – a smart and accessible solution that allows you to effortlessly contribute to a better world.

How does it work?

Step 1

Determine the required liters of HVO100

Together, we determine how many liters of HVO100 diesel you need to reach your CO2 reduction goal. We establish clear agreements on the required volume, costs, and the period in which the Biofuel Swap will be executed.

Step 2

Execution of the Biofuel Swap

We add the number of purchased HVO100 liters to our diesel volume and add it to our Dutch fuel road network. By blending these volumes, we reduce the use of fossil fuels on the road, directly contributing to a greener environment.

Step 3

External verification

An independent auditor verifies the end-to-end process. This means that everything from the purchase and addition of the HVO to the correct allocation of the Proof of Sustainability (POS) will be thoroughly reviewed.

Step 4

Receive your verified certificate

After the verification process has taken place, you will receive a verified certificate as proof of your contribution

Step 5

Communication to the client

You can share the number of HVO100 liters indicated on the verified certificate, along with the feedstock type used, with your client(s) to demonstrate that the CO2 reduction has been achieved.

Step 6

Practical advice

The Biofuel Swap is designed for companies that cannot directly use HVO100 diesel but want to enhance their sustainability efforts. We understand that it can be challenging to integrate Biofuel Swap within your organisation. That’s why we provide you with practical advice on how to apply emission reductions based on your purchase.

You have questions, we got answers.

Why is Biofuel Swap interesting for road-mobility companies?
HVO100 is still limited in availability across Europe, and the origins of its feedstock are often unclear, making it challenging to ensure it meets strict sustainability standards. With Biofuel Swap, FincoEnergies offers a seamless solution: you can purchase HVO100 that is added to our road fuel network, allowing you to attribute the GHG savings to your business. This provides the same emission reductions as using HVO100 directly, backed by a certificate as proof of purchase. Our HVO100 is produced entirely from waste and residue feedstocks, ensuring compliance with rigorous sustainability requirements.
How do I know the HVO100 I purchased ends up in the road network?
The HVO100 is blended in a tank of FincoEnergies which is dedicated to our road customers. Evidence of HVO100 movement, including blending dates and volumes, is collected and reviewed by an external verification partner. This includes the sales documentation of the molecules coming from that tank.
How do you prove the HVO100 used is from a sustainable origin?

Each HVO100 batch you purchase comes with an ISCC-certified Proof of Sustainability (POS) document provided by the fuel supplier. This document details essential information, including fuel origin, feedstock type, and greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity. As a trusted certification body, ISCC rigorously verifies the GHG emissions across the supply chain and guarantees that the feedstock is sourced exclusively from waste and residue materials, supporting your commitment to sustainability.

Can I (vehicle owner) use this solution to reduce my scope 1 or scope 3 emissions?

Customers can use Biofuel Swap for both Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions reporting, whether they’re decarbonising their own fleet or offering it to end customers. While there's no formal Guarantee of Origin for HVO, FincoEnergies provides verified HVO Certificates through audited processes, and we welcome your auditor for any additional questions.
