Rotterdam/Copenhagen, 13 April 2026 – FincoEnergies and Scan Global Logistics (SGL) are strengthening their collaboration by implementing Biofuel Swap, a globally applicable solution for decarbonising road transport. With Biofuel Swap, SGL offers its customers immediate emissions reductions – with no changes to vehicles, infrastructure, or daily logistics operations – through utilising certified HVO100, a 100% biodegradable fuel, enabling verified, scalable CO₂e reductions.

The partnership between FincoEnergies and Scan Global Logistics is built on a successful pilot project launched in 2023 that tested and optimised insetting solutions for road transport, laying the groundwork for the implementation of the Biofuel Swap initiative in 2025.

Martin Andersen, Global Head of Sustainability & ESG at Scan Global Logistics, expands on the trusted partnership:

‘FincoEnergies is a leading expert in biofuel solutions. Their expertise and reliable supply enable us to offer a high-quality solution to our customers that can help reduce road transport emissions easily, immediately, and worldwide.’

Closing the need-solution gap in road transport decarbonisation

The road transport sector remains heavily reliant on fossil fuels, while continuing to struggle with the limited availability of sustainable fuels, such as HVO, along key routes. Additionally, logistics service providers often cannot use physical renewable fuels within their owned or contracted assets, creating a gap between the need for emission reductions and their practical implementation.

Biofuel Swap presents a solution to this challenge by decoupling the environmental benefits from the physical use of biofuel. While HVO100 is physically used in trucks in the Netherlands to create real, in-sector emission reductions, a robust book-and-claim approach enables customers worldwide to claim verified Scope 3 emission reductions. Moreover, customers receive transparent, traceable CO₂e data that is easy to integrate into their own CO₂ reporting.

Sophia Carrillo Beeck, Senior Commercial Manager Carbon Management at FincoEnergies, on the collaboration:

‘Biofuel Swap makes emission reductions tangible and traceable. With Scan Global Logistics’ worldwide customer base and global network, the Biofuel Swap solution will have a broad reach. We’re proud to work with Scan Global Logistics to help customers move from climate targets to concrete action.’

Easy, available, actionable solution

According to the UN’s Emissions Gap Report 2025*, longer-lead decarbonisation technologies and enabling infrastructure are not scaling at the pace required to meet climate targets, underscoring the need for immediate solutions. With Biofuel Swap, SGL offers a readily available and actionable alternative to help customers achieve their sustainability goals. As the solution requires no operational changes, it is easily implemented worldwide. HVO100 adds to SGL’s Low Carbon Solution catalogue, which already includes ocean biofuel, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and electric vehicles, thus reinforcing SGL’s commitment to becoming a leader in sustainable transportation solutions across industries.

Facts about Biofuel Swap offered by FincoEnergies and Scan Global Logistics
